Over twenty years ago, Ariel Howard was an 18-year-old with plans to attend Temple University on an academic scholarship–until circumstances beyond her control abruptly changed her course. 

“I worked so hard to get here. What am I supposed to do?” Howard remembers asking herself.

Still, she persisted. 

New Student Experience/Welcome Center Manager Mimi Oliveira is a recognizable presence at �ƹ���Ƶ. She’s often staked out at the front desk of the Student Success Center or in her nearby office — fitting for a role that centers on guiding students to resources such as registration, advising, and financial aid, and on training RCBC’s student ambassadors to do the same.

�ƹ���Ƶ will welcome a professional astronomer to its Mount Laurel campus as part of a prestigious nationwide lecture series on Oct. 14.

Antara R. Basu-Zych, a research astrophysicist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), is a part of the 2026 cohort of American Astronomical Society (AAS) astronomers who will speak at schools and community institutions nationwide.​
