Dear Barons,
It is with a deep sense of purpose and responsibility that I accept the role of Acting President of »Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ (RCBC). I am honored to serve this institution at a time when strong, steady leadership is essential, and I recognize the trust placed in me by the Board of Trustees as well as the anticipated cooperation of faculty, staff, and our students.
This role is not new to me, as I previously served as Interim President for a one-year period, a decade ago. That experience, plus my twenty-one-years at our institution, have provided me with valuable insight into the operations, culture, and mission of RCBC. I bring that experience forward to the present as we work together to ensure the College continues to thrive.
RCBC is a remarkable institution, distinguished by the dedication of its faculty and staff, the achievements of its students, and the enduring strength of its academic programs and community partnerships. Unfortunately, there have recently been breakdowns in trust and effective communication at the highest levels. However, our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and student success remains the foundation upon which all our work is built.
At the same time, as we continue our important work, we must recognize opportunities for growth and improvement, particularly in alignment with MSCHE Standard VII: Governance, Leadership, and Administration. Clear communication, defined roles and responsibilities, and effective collaboration between the College President and the Board of Trustees are essential to ensuring that governance serves the institution’s mission, safeguards integrity, and maintains public trust.
My immediate priorities will be to:
1. Reinforce transparency and collaboration between administration and the Board, ensuring that all decisions are mission-driven and evidence-based.
2. Clarify roles, responsibilities, and authority, so that both governance and leadership operate efficiently and effectively.
3. Support ethical, accountable decision-making that reflects the College’s high standards and protects institutional integrity.
4. Celebrate and build upon RCBC’s strengths, ensuring that we continue to provide exceptional opportunities for our students, faculty, and community.
Together, I am confident that we can navigate any challenges while honoring RCBC’s proud history and advancing its future. I look forward to working with all of you to maintain our mission of academic excellence, student success, and community engagement.
