ƹƵ constantly strives to use the college’s space better to fit the evolving needs of students and staff. Over the past several months, the Mount Laurel and Mount Holly campuses have seen new updates, including noteworthy relocations and additions. We thought it important to divulge these new changes, so students are prepared to quickly and easily access all of the resources they need from the moment they step on campus the first day of the fall semester. Read on to learn more.
Test Center, Food Pantry, and Zen Den Relocations
Several important student resources have been relocated to better serve the campus community. The Test Center moved to Evans Hall, the Food Pantry moved to the first floor of the Student Success Center, and the Zen Den moved to room 108 of the SSC.
The Test Center functions at the same time in the same structured environment, but receives a beneficial change with the relocation from the busy SSC.
“The Testing Center is now in a quieter, more accessible area, enhancing the overall environment for students and making it easier for students to access,” said Sara Lepore, RCBC’s assistant manager of operations, scheduling, events, and space utilization.
The Food Pantry was located at the back of Votta Hall, a spot on campus that students could easily miss. With its new, more visible location on the first floor of the SSC, more students can take advantage of the helpful program that offers free food to any current RCBC student.
At the Zen Den, any student is welcome. Its new space retains its quiet, relaxing atmosphere, perfect for students to unwind, de-stress, and practice mindfulness or meditation. The calming environment is equipped with comfortable seating and soothing decor to recharge.
Student Support and Career Preparation/Experiential Learning/Business Engagement Relocations, New Suite
A few of RCBC’s departments have done some switching around. Student Support moved to the SSC’s first floor, Career Services/Experiential Learning moved to the second floor, and Business Engagement from Evans Hall moved to the second floor of the SSC. These moves make it easier for students and staff to access services quickly and bring RCBC employees working in the same department closer together, fostering better collaboration and improving student service.
A new suite for Career Services/Experiential Learning, featuring an open layout with designated areas for different services, includes updated furnishings, clear signage, and improved accessibility to ensure a welcoming and functional space for all users. Within the new suite is also a relocated Career Closet, a resource for students to acquire free, professional attire to help them look their best during the job search process.
“Overall, these changes enhance the working environment, support better engagement and communication, and increase productivity and job satisfaction,” Lepore said.
New Vending Options/Food Trucks
Additional vending machines in the SSC and the return of food trucks on campus make it easier than ever to grab a bite. Self-serve snack and beverage vending remains throughout campus, in Laurel Hall, TEC, Votta Hall, Health Sciences, and Mount Holly, but the SSC features a larger assortment of vending machines, including fresh food, snacks, and hot beverages.
Food trucks will be posted on the SSC patio throughout the semester. Trucks include Chick-fil-A, Fork in the Road, Fruit Island, and Mary’s Mobile Diner. Keep an eye out on social media and the screens around campus for full dates and times.
