Congratulations! You have been conditionally accepted as a High School Applicant into the Associates of Applied Science (AAS.NUR) Nursing Program at »ئ¹دتسئµ.
Your freshman year will be under the AS.HSC major, and upon passing the requirements below you will transition into AAS.NUR Nursing your sophomore year with no additional application necessary.
Please read the information below in its entirety, so you can understand the conditions to your acceptance and the steps to take in order to reserve your space in the program.
Your acceptance is conditional based on the following:
- Successful completion of all high school coursework and graduation by June 2025.
- Completion of all courses for semester 1 and 2 as noted in the 3+1 major map on the Nursing web page with a grade of “C†or better by the end of the Spring 2026. Students cannot take any of these courses in Summer 2026.
- Attendance at the Orientation in Summer 2026 for nursing students (date TBD).
- Satisfactory completion with a grade of C or better in the following required courses to be taken within the Fall and Spring semesters as noted above:
Fall
o PSY 101: Introduction to Psychology 3 credits
o ENG 101: English Composition I 3 credits
o BIO 110/111 Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology I and Lab 4 Credits
o SOC 101: Principles of Sociology 3 credits
o PHI 101: Introduction to Philosophy 3 credits
Spring *
o NUR 220: Nutrition in Nursing & Healthcare 3 credits
o ENG 102: English Composition II 3 credits
o BIO 114/115: Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology II 4 credits with lab
o PSY 256 : Developmental Psychology 3 credits
o MTH 107: Introduction to Statistics 3 credits
* It is recommended that you take Microbiology (BIO 112/113; part of 3+1), if possible, before you enter Nursing in Fall 2026
Upon successful completion of the required courses within the 1st year you will be classified as a Nursing Student (AAS.NUR) and begin your Nursing courses in Fall 2026. In order to start this process you will need to complete additional requirements under the instruction of the Nursing department by the beginning of Summer 2026 (not freshman year):
- Criminal background with clear results (any charges regardless of degree or type that appears on background screen will make you ineligible for admission).
- Drug screening with negative results (any positive notation, even if legally required, will make you ineligible for admission due to contracts with hospitals; students who take medical marijuana or barbiturates are not eligible for admission.)
- Compliance with all required clearances as listed in the Nursing Handbook including titers showing immunity for all childhood diseases including Hepatitis B, CPR completion for the BLS provider through the American Heart Association courses ONLY, flu shot, and COVID vaccination as required. Students who refuse vaccines are not eligible for admission. We cannot change our contracts or alter requirements of private institutions.
Your confirmation of acceptance to the program must be received by no later than July 15, 2025, otherwise you will forfeit your place in the class beginning Fall 2025, and will have to reapply to the program.
